On Jan. 1, Eminem purchased Bored Ape for 123.45 ETH, along with 27 other NFTs under the moniker Shady_Holdings. Snoop Dog is a big fan of NFTs, particularly because of his collaboration with The Sandbox, which resulted in ‘The Doggies’ NFT collection and the purchase of Bored Ape on December 22.
On Sunday, Eminem and Snoop Dogg will appear at the VMAs to perform a track inspired by Otherside and the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFTs, which are NFTs dedicated to Otherside and Bored Ape Yacht Club content.
BAYC and Animoca Brands’ NFT investment and gaming collaboration project, The Otherside, is a collaboration between Yuga Labs.
The VMAs stage will be transformed into an Otherside style for the rap icons’ latest single ‘From the D 2 the LBC’ in partnership with Yuga Labs, who developed the technology. There are currently no details available regarding the performance.
The VMAs have created a new ‘Best Metaverse Performance’ category to indicate to the music business that Metaverse shows should be given more attention. Justin Bieber, Rift Tour (featuring Ariana Grande), and Twenty One Pilots are all up for the award.
It’s time for the VMAs, from the D to the LBC to Jersey @Eminem @MTV @OthersideMeta. Here we come.
In an effort to boost sagging viewership numbers, the VMAs may be hoping to harness the Metaverse. After reaching a peak of 12.4 million viewers in 2011, award viewership has been on the decline, with only 900,000 viewers tuning in live on MTV for the eighth year in a row to view the awards, representing a decline of nearly nine million viewers.
Eminem and Snoop Dogg have teamed up for the first time in 20 years for the “Best Hip Hop” award. Both hodlers of BAYC NFTs can be found in the song’s music video, which heavily features content from the NFT collection. Snoop Dogg recently appeared in an EDM track called BAYC by Esther Anaya, which features animated footage of Bored Apes and other NFTs.
On December 31, Eminem bought a Bored Ape NFT for 123.45 ETH through Shady_Holdings, a firm he owns. Snoop Dog is a massive fan of NFTs, especially ‘The Doggies’ collection that he co-created with The Sandbox on December 22.
There are two worlds: the Known, which is familiar to us, and the Unknown, which is mysterious.
Otherside is a Metaverse currently in beta development that has gamified interoperability. Voyagers are owners of Otherdeed NFTs, which represent digital land ownership in the BAYC virtual world.
“Voyagers will be able to bring their outside collections and NFTs to life within our metaverse using Otherside in the future, according to the litepaper.”
Demand for Otherdeed NFTs has reportedly generated over $1 billion in sales to date, with $23.5 million in volume being recorded over the last 30 days. Demand is also high for the collection’s most prestigious NFTs, with one lot selling for as much as $565,289 four months ago, according to CryptoSlam data.
On Jul. 16, the Otherside metaverse welcomed its first visitors, and there were 4500 of them. Only Voyagers and select third-party developers were permitted to enter, and it seems the journey was a big success based on tweets from its backers.
It has been an honour experiencing the @OthersideMeta First Trip.
